Bulgarian Rose
The Damask Rose of Kazanlak is the most charming symbol of Bulgaria. Transported to the Bulgarian lands of Asia in the nineteenth century, it is the greatest wealth of the region of Kazanlak. So the Valley of the South Balkans is called the Valley of the Roses. The first industrial plantations are in the region of Kazanlak and the produced rose oil is sold in Constantinople, Vienna, Paris, London, New York and often wins gold medals in some exhibitions.
The same oil is accumulated in the petals and is extracted from there by distillation. In order to achieve maximum quality and efficiency, the flowers have to be picked by hand, even before sunrise and required before the hot hours of the day. The yield is too low, about one litre of a ton of roses, and this litre is valued at approximately 4000 EUR.
Although the products that reach the end user usually does not stand out with something special, must be emphasized that the natural concentrate oil is unique because of its aroma and contributes a lot to the development of perfumery. Thus the Bulgarian Rose (rose oil and rose water) is one of the authentic symbols of Bulgaria
